STARS: Six Contemporary Artists
From Japan to the World
31 July 2020 – 3 January 2021
Mori Art Museum
This exhibition at Mori Art Museum will delve into the history of contemporary Japanese art since the 1950s by tracing the trajectories of six internationally acclaimed artists.
What not to miss of the “STARS” at Mori Art Museum
Six “star” artists are lined up for this show to epitomize contemporary art in Japan, along with their careers that also stretch beyond the archipelago: Yayoi Kusama, Ufan Lee, Tatsuo Miyajima, Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara and Hiroshi Sugimoto.
Mori Art Museum offers – as always – a fabulous setting to showcase the most stunning installations.
For each artist, works created at the start of his/her career and from the latest period will be juxtaposed, to straddle the past and the present.
These fantastic works will be complemented by archival data on the artists and on the socio-cultural context to unravel the making of contemporary Japanese art.
