Mori Arts Center Gallery
The Mori Arts Center Gallery stages a major show dedicated to Keith Haring, the American pop artist.
Highlights of “Keith Haring: Art to the Streets”
Street art icon along with Jean-Michel Basquiat in New York in the 1980s, Keith Haring is appreciated for his colourful pop art with exuberant figures.
Believing that “art is for everyone”, Haring brought art to the streets and subway stations of New York in the 1980s.
Through his art, he also entrusted the future and the hopes of humanity to children.
Around 150 works by Haring go on show, including a large oeuvre measuring 6 meters.
Throughout the entire chapters, Haring’s last creative and dramatic decade is to be witnessed.
Also on view is his signature “radiant baby”, a motif Haring depicted until the end of his life.
The icing on the cake, five works by Keith Haring, commonly called “Subway Drawings”, his graffiti on billboards in the New York subway, is exhibited for the very first time in Japan.
