    The show entitled “European Masterpieces from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York” is currently on view at the National Art Center, Tokyo (Roppongi) through 30 May 2022.

     


    What not to miss at the show

    An excellent selection of 65 Western paintings by well-known masters, lent by the Met. are on tour in Japan.

    Forty-six of them are shown to the public for the first time in Japan.

    The history of Western painting is traced by the superb works, from the early Renaissance paintings in the 15th century to Post-Impressionism of the 19th century.

    The masters of works displayed include: Fra Angelico, Raffaello, Lucas Cranach, Tiziano, El Greco, Caravaggio, Georges de La Tour, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens, Velázquez, Poussin, Watteau, Boucher, Goya, Turner, Courbet, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Cezanne.
