About “Kazuo Umezz The Great Art Exhibition”
For the coming show at Tokyo City View, four major works have been selected to delve into the art and artistry of Umezz: “The Drifting Classroom“, “I am Shingo“, “Fourteen” and his latest work “ZOKU-SHINGO 小さなロボット シンゴ美術館” (ZOKU-SHINGO: Little Robot Shingo’s Art Museum )**.

◆ ZOKU-SHINGO: Little Robot Shingo’s Art Museum
Twenty-seven years after the publication of “Fourteen” in the 1990s, Umezz brought forth “ZOKU-SHINGO: Little Robot Shingo’s Art Museum”, to be displayed to the public for the first time at this show.
“Zoku” means a “sequel” in Japanese, and it is a sequel to “I am Shingo”, offering a parallel vision that transcends time and space.
There’s a chronological narrative to follow, but frames of comic strips are nowhere to be seen.
The work is composed of a series of 101 acrylic paintings, which took Umezz four years to complete.
Each painting is a work of art on its own.
◆ Three sets of installations to deepen Umezz’s art
Curated by Kenji Kubota, the universe of Umezz’s art will be expanded with installation works by three contemporary artists.
