    Are you scared of poison?

If scary, poison arouses our curiosity, too.

The nature and science museum at Ueno Park hosts its first ever show featuring “poison”.

About “Poison” at the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo

Poison is a noxious substance that harms living things, including human beings.

This special show explores a stunning world of poison that is found everywhere in nature, in its animal and plant forms, fungi and minerals, as well as in its artificial forms.

A rich variety of specimen and materials from the museum collection will be brought together to give evidence to poisons seen from multidisciplinary perspectives – zoology, botany, geology, anthropology, science and engineering.

Special features include surprising creatures that have evolved with poisons.

The show also sheds light on the way humans have utilized poisonous substances – as both noxious weapons and medicines – and are today yielding new types of poisons.

A look into the future through the lens of poison.
