16 April – 12 June 2022
Suntory Museum of Art
Yet another show will be dedicated to one of the most outstanding ukiyo-e masters and the world’s most popular artists, Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849).
The coming show at the Suntory Museum of Art located in the Tokyo Midtown complex (Roppongi) will feature a superb selection of Hokusai’s masterpieces on loan mainly from the British Museum and some from Japan.
Through Hokusai’s ukiyo-e paintings and prints, the show will shed light on the master’s career, in particular the early days and the last 30 years of his life, and also the role played by the British collectors of Hokusai in art history.
