    Hama-rikyu Garden

Hama-rikyu Garden, created on a landfill area of Tokyo Bay, used to be the shogun Tokugawa family’s secondary residence. In spring, this historical garden is tinted in soft shades of pink with cherry flowers. In the beginning of April, Somei Yoshino comes into full bloom, followed by Yae-zakura (double-flowered cherries) and other rare species.

During cherry blossom season, the garden remains open until 6 pm, one hour longer than usual. So take the opportunity to appreciate, while gently caressed by the sea breeze, the aesthetic harmony of the landscaped garden, with the silhouette of skyscrapers of neighbouring Shiodome.

To make your o-hanami (cherry-blossom viewing) experience even more unforgettable, how about taking water bus directly from Asakusa to the garden, passing through the Sumida River (which is also lined with cherry trees on the bank)?
