Special Exhibition: POMPEII

The show offers a window into Pompeii’s civilization and history through a wonderful selection of frescoes, sculptures and other objects unearthed from the ancient city.

After the Tokyo National Museum (Ueno Park), it will travel to Kyoto, Fukuoka, and Miyagi.

What not to miss at the Pompeii show

Approximately 150 artefacts of Pompeii lent by the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN, Napoli) are currently visiting Japan.

The Roman and Hellenistic objects on view are complemented by walk-through installations and videos – welcome additions in these times of pandemic, to feel a bit like travelling abroad.

The display is user-friendly for non-Japanese visitors, with most of the panels translated into English and some in other languages also.
