Physalis Market

Asahi Shrine, a Shinto sanctuary located on an alley off the busy Roppongi Crossing, will host an annual physalis market (hozuki ichi ほおずき市) again this year.

The event is held on a small scale, in a friendly atmosphere, and not tourism-oriented. Extra-large orange lantern flowers light up joyfully the shrine precincts for two days. The ornamental plants are brought in from Hinokage Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, more than 800 km away from Tokyo.
