“La Folle Journée” (Days of Enthusiasm) is a classical music festival originated in Nantes, western France in 1995. In Japan, the festival has been held every year since 2005 during the “Golden Week” (a week of multiple holidays from the end of April through the beginning of May). Today it is counted as one of the largest classical music festivals in the country.
The festival owes its popularity to the combination of quality and an attractive price policy: concerts with the world’s leading musicians (usually in 45 minute format) may be attended for an affordable price of some 1500 yen.
The 2016 edition will be organized around the theme “Nature and Music”. A number of music pieces inspired by nature appear among more than 300 concerts and events.
