The Tokyo National Museum celebrates its 150th anniversary with a very special exhibition, showcasing a cream-of-the-crop selection of cultural objects to trace its history since the foundation.

This special show consists of two parts. The first part highlights some of the finest pieces of art and artefact that belong to the museum.

That is followed by the section featuring precious records and objects to take a look back on the museum’s history.

What absolutely not to miss, the museum will put on view the entire collection of “National Treasures” in its possession.

It is totally unprecedented in its history to display 89 pieces altogether at a single time in a single place – a fitting fanfare for the celebratory occasion.

Those treasures include 19 exquisite pieces of katana or Japanese swords, together on view in a special room.
