  • Cherry blossom viewing at the museum

    14 March – 9 April 2017
    Tokyo National Museum

When the famed cherry trees bloom, Ueno Park is super crowded with tourists and visitors. It is quite a challenge to find a space to stay away from them. So here is an option of “o-hanami” (cherry blossom viewing) for you: at the Tokyo National Museum, about 10 minutes’ walk from JR Ueno Station.

The museum is a hidden cherry blossom spot in Ueno. In spring the Japanese garden with a pond and five teahouses is tinted in gentle shades of whitish pink with about 10 kinds of cherry trees that go into full bloom.

Every cherry blossom season, the museum hosts a variety of events under the theme of o-hanami: the display of thematic exhibits, the opening of the Japanese garden to the public, concerts, live talks and more.
