New Year’s Celebration at the Tokyo National Museum
2 – 31 January 2016
In January, make your way to Ueno for the 2016 edition of “New Year’s Celebration at the Tokyo National Museum”. Several masterpieces will be exhibited only for this time period. Among these are the “Pine Trees” (National Treasure) and three pieces from Hokusai’s “Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji”. Also not to miss, auspicious arts and artworks related to the monkey, the zodiac animal of 2016, will be specially displayed. On 2 and 3 January, traditional performing arts such as dynamic wadaiko (Japanese drums) and shishimai (Japanese lion dance), played at the main building’s entrance, will certainly bring up New Year’ joyous mood. One more plus, museum shops and restaurants offer gifts and special menu. Good job, Tohaku(*)!
