Embracing for Painting
Exhibition by Minako Abe, Midori Sato, and Manika Nagare
Shiseido Gallery, Tokyo
31July to 20 September 2015
The Shiseido Gallery holds an exhibition by three Japanese female contemporary artists, drawing out a common thread of “painting as their way of life”. Each in her own way: Abe uses computer to add arbitrary deformation to nature photographs, then manipulates them with masking tapes and rollers to recreate a new vision. Sato paints fashion items with brush strokes in gentle colours. Nagare depicts human and nature as abstract images through distinctive layers of colours.
