Sakura Fest Nihonbashi 2021
19 March – 11 April 2021
Sakura Fest Nihonbashi (Japanese title “SAKURA FES NIHONBASHI”) will be held for the eighth time this year to celebrate the cherry blossom season at Nihonbashi, central Tokyo.
Highlights of Sakura Fest Nihonbashi 2021
Ever since it became widely popular during the Edo period, o-hanami or cherry-blossom viewing goes hand in hand with food and drink, picnicking and merry-making under the cherry trees.
But these times are not normal.
So the hosts of cherry blossom festivals in the country are gearing up for a new mode of o-hanami. Shops and restaurants, and commercial entities of Nihonbashi are no exception.
The 2021edition of “Sakura Fest Nihonbashi” will thus take place with the catch-phrase “Bring spring home”.
The festival will feature take-away foods to give an o-hanami-party feel.
And that’s a feast for the stomach and the eyes!
◆ Sakura takeaways
About 150 shops in Nihonbashi will serve sweet and savoury tastes with the theme of “spring and cherry blossoms.”
◆ O-hanami benches
Sit on one of the round-shaped benches with Japanese parasols to have a bite of o-hanami snacks and catch glimpse of cherry blossoms.
At the COREDO Muromachi Terrace.
◆ Nihonbashi feast packs
Renowned restaurants and shops, old and new, offer o-hanami bento or lunch boxes for cherry blossom viewing.
◆ Sakura lights
Buildings along the Chuo-dori and “Edo Sakura-dori” Streets will be lit up in shades of cherry blossoms.
