Odaiba Beach Art Fireworks Festival 2017*
(Autumn Halloween beach festival)
21 October 2017
Odaiba Beach Park (Odaiba Kaihin Koen)
*The event title is not the official translation.
Halloween has become an annual festival in Tokyo and elsewhere in Japan, drawing costume-crazed crowds and prompting jack-o’-lantern decorations and pop-up events.
Here is a not-so-scary, family-oriented (and also for couples and friends) Halloween night celebration, set in a scenic park of Odaiba in Tokyo Bay. On the programme: a costume pageant led by Popteen (a Japanese magazine) models, fireworks, sound effects, lights and music, and food stalls.
At the stalls, snacks using pumpkin and sweet potatoes will be among the autumn menus offered. Street performers (and maybe some ghouls) will roam cheerfully (or gloomily) amid the audience to conjure magic.
The fireworks launched in the night sky in sync with music could be spectacular and beautiful over the Rainbow Bridge. The pyrotechnical show features “Niagara Falls” and special fireworks to display “an encounter with the unknown”.
Tickets from 5,800 to 50,000 yen for adults. You may need a help of a Japanese friend to navigate through the event website.
