  • New Year Celebration 2020 at Rikugi-en

    2-3 January 2020
    Rikugi-en Garden

Rikugi-en is one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens in Tokyo, dating to the Edo era in the end of the 17th century.

The garden will host a variety of events to celebrate New Year 2020 in a colourful and traditional Japanese atmosphere.

    Rikugi-en’s New Year Celebration 2020

◆Festive music and auspicious lion dance (“o-hayashi” & “shishimai”)

On 2 and 3 January at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm, near the majestic Weeping Cherry Tree (shidare-zakura). Cancellation in case of rain.

◆Display of auspicious plants (“goriyaku kadan”)

A very pretty and tasteful display of auspicious plants considered to bring “good luck” to you. Opposite the garden office (“Service Center”), on 2 – 3 Jan, 9 am – 5 pm.

    ◆Matcha tea and photo spot

New Year’s tea, on the pond, with a beautiful view of the garden. That’s the formula at the tea pavilion “Fukiage-jaya”, which serves matcha tea with a Japanese tea cake (drink and food fees extra).

At New Year’s photo spot, how about taking a selfie with a lantern, wearing a Japanese jacket “happi”?  It’s free.
