Hachijo-jima Freesia Festival 2016
20 March – 3 April 2016
A major difference from Paris or New York, Tokyo comprises a number of subtropical islands. Hachijo-jima Island is one of them, located in just a 50-minute flight’s (or an overnight boat’s) distance and some 300 kilometers south of the capital.
In spring the air on the island is scented with sweet flowery fragrance. In 2016, Hajijo-jima Freesia Festival will be back again for two weeks, starting from the spring equinox. The festival is eventful – free picking of flowers, concerts, as well as tea ceremony overlooking colorful fields of freesia in yellow, white, pink and purple.
You can also taste the island’s cuisine, purchase food products and crafts. Above all, you may very much like to relax in one of Hachijo-jima’s onsens (hot springs).
Why not planning ahead your spring holidays full of relaxation and fresh air?
