  • Photo exhibition “K2” by Naoki Ishikawa

    Chanel Nexus Hall
    5 – 27 December 2015

Ever since Naoki Ishikawa, photographer, reached the top of Mount Everest at the age of 23 in 2001, he continues to climb the eight-thousanders. While doing fieldwork extendedly in the world, ranging from urban chaos to the uninhabited polar regions, he has published a number of photo albums and books.

In the summer of 2015, he took on a challenge of climbing K2 (8611 meters), the world’s second highest and most forbidding peak. It is known as the most dangerous of the eight-thousanders for its extreme difficulty of routes and turbulent weather peculiar to its isolation. It is not even easily accessible, located in the remotest part of the Karakoram Range bordering Pakistan, China and India. Drawn by the difficulty and the exceptional beauty of its shape, Ishikawa climbed K2 with a most special feeling of all his mountaineering career.

Chanel Nexus Hall presents the achievements of his harsh, two-month expedition with his photos taken in the extreme conditions of the Savage Mountain.
