  • Autumn Festival (aki matsuri) 2019

    13 – 15 September 2019

    ARK Hills, a multipurpose complex located in Akasaka and close to Roppongi, will host autumn festival to coincide with the annual “matsuri” (festival) at the nearby Akasaka Hikawa Shrine.

    Join the Japanese matsuri in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. On the programme: Bon odori dance, taiko drums, traditional and syncretic music, “gourmet” food stalls, workshops and more.

    Main events of ARK Hills Autumn Festival 2019

    ◆ Bon Dance

    Slip into the circle of bon dancing and have fun following easy steps, along with the contagious rhythm of taiko drums. From classics such as “Tokyo Ondo” and “Roppongi Ondo” to recent hits.

    【Date / hours】14 Sept (Sat) 6 – 8 pm


    ◆ Mikoshi

    As a part of the annual autumn festival of Akasaka Hikawa Shrine, mikoshi (portable shrines) will travel around ARK HILLS, carried by the locals.

    【Hours】from 10:15 am to noon

    ◆ Children’s mikoshi and festival float

    Also as part of the shrine’s festival, a portable shrine and a festival float drawn by children will travel around Ark Hills. Your kids may also join this popular annual event. After the procession, take souvenir shots, perhaps, with the float and the locals.

    【Date / hours】14 Sept (Sat), 1:30 – 2:30 pm
    * Meet by 1:15 pm at the “o-mikisho” (神酒所, where the mikoshi is placed)
    * “Hanten” (半纏, festival kimono jacket) for kids may be rented (first come, first served)

    ◆ Yukata rental and wearing

    Wear a yukata and enjoy the autumn festival even more (from 3,000 yen, prior reservation required at 03-3653-6331 Iseya-gofukuten).

    Free live music & performance featuring Japanese taiko drums, festival tunes and syncretic music on 14 and 15 September.
