Celebrate New Year at a beautiful Japanese garden
2-3 January 2016
Not determined what to do for New Year’s festive outings in Tokyo? Here’s one option for you. Head for Rikugiyen, a vast Japanese garden of the feudal lord style, located in Komagome. Take a view of the pretty landscape from a Tea House, sipping a warm cup of amazake (sweet beverage made of fermented rice) or having a bowl of matcha. The garden is filled with New Year’s auspicious atmosphere, thanks to ohayashi (festive music) and shishimai (lion dance) performance. There will also be a special exhibition of plants said to attract good luck.
