Mika Aoki is a Tokyo- and London-trained Japanese glass artist, producing a range of works that delve into the “world of living things”, representing such beings as slime molds, bacteria, viruses and cells. She is acclaimed for her unique vision and delicate works uniting the visible and the invisible.

Each of her glass object, produced piece by piece through the burner-work technique, emanates energy full of life. An overwhelming presence of her opus, with lucency heightened by light, simultaneously transient and eternal, enchants many of viewers.

Focusing on the plants’ life-cycle as the main motif, the exhibition proposes a dynamic installation of glass works and lights that feature the “interrelationship” of invisible creatures.
