Yuko Higuchi, a popular painter, articulates a unique vision of the world throughout her work with a delicate touch. This exhibition highlights some of the best original sketches from her new picture book “Gustave-kun”, published by Hakusensha (in September 2016).

Humorous and nihilistic, Gustave-kun* has a cat face, octopus legs and snake arms. He and Crocodile-kun* are the protagonists of Higuchi’s fantasy world, cute but in shades of black humour. With the creatures drawn gently by her pen, let your mind travel freely in time and space.

(*“kun” is an affectionate suffix for boys)
