    21_21 DESIGN SIGHT
    26 February – 5 June 2016

Have you ever heard of “zakka”, now a design and fashion phenomenon around the world?

Meaning “miscellaneous goods”, the word used to denote a variety of tools and utensils that were indispensable in everyday life, such as buckets, kettles and brooms.

Time has changed, and it now covers all sorts of “goods”, ranging from tableware, accessories and cosmetics, to things of no practical use, often with a connotation of something cool and stylish.

The exhibition retraces the environment and sensitivity surrounding “zakka” and explores its allure from a design perspective, while defining the term loosely as “that which exists like the air in our living space and adds subtle colour to it”.
